Green is the new black, when it comes to attracting talented employees to work for your company. A recent Wall Street Journal article notes that, “As the next wave of office construction hits, expect green construction to be the standard. Increasingly, tenants are expecting it, and if developers don’t have it, they can find themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to leasing that space.” Green architecture and building sustainability are catching on as the next must-haves for hip office environments.
Part of the popularity of such work-environments may be explained by the well-known perks of major tech companies that promote a healthier work-life balance.
Google Headquarters in Mountain View California is famous for its sustainable and energy efficient offices (as well as many other incredible employee perks). They even have solar panels that supply at least 30% of the electricity to all 20 buildings on campus. Check out this short video about the Googleplex and all the creative ways they have incorporated sustainability into every day office life.
